It truly is quite tasty! Last week, Tasty Tuesday was a delectable vegetarian lasagna. This week, I thought it would be nice to lighten things up with a luscious turmeric smoothie. No face-making until you actually taste it! You will definitely be surprised! And, although not low in calories, this smoothie is so yummy and satisfying that it’s terrific as a breakfast replacement drink.

Turmeric Smoothie
Combine in your favorite blender:
2 cups coconut milk
1 cup frozen mango chunks
2 fresh bananas
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 cup water
It’s always hard for me to stop at one glass of this heavenly drink, but the calorie content — mainly due to the coconut milk — always brings my mind back to a reality check. I love it as a breakfast replacement though, especially because of the many nutritional benefits of turmeric. In India, turmeric has been used for thousands of years for some of the following benefits:
- Natural liver detoxifier
- Strong anti-inflammatory properties
- Assists the metabolism and thereby helps with weight management
- Powerful immune system booster
- Sometimes used as a treatment for depression
- Can accelerate the healing of physical wounds
- Used as a natural painkiller
Indians use turmeric in many of their vegetable and meat dishes. It has a deep, rich color and incorporating it into your culinary lifestyle is easy and fun to do.
Try it! And enjoy!
We really are on the same wave length about some things! I started adding turmeric into my diet after a really bad fall a little more than a year ago. It was recommended to me at that time and I got into the habit of making turmeric tea and just adding in more curry tastes to my usual recipes. But I never once thought about adding it to a smoothie and this recipe really calls to me. š The turmeric with mango? Whoa! I hope I don’t overdo it. LOL!

I’ve never tried turmeric tea š I’ll have to add that to my “to do” list! Even with all the time I spent in India I’ve never been a big mango fan, but in this smoothie it is really tasty. Wishing you a wonderful day, Debra ~ Lisa
