Hatha Yoga – The Lion Pose

I was talking with someone the other day who had been feeling poorly, mostly due to a sore throat. The Lion Pose can be a helpful tool to accelerate healing in this regard.

Crouch down on your heels with your hands on your knees, palms down. Tense the entire body extending fingers wide and stiffly. Roll eyes upward, tongue out and downward, and hold for fifteen to twenty seconds. Repeat two or three times several times a day. Of course, you can do this sitting in a chair, but how boring would that be? πŸ™‚

It seems like a silly pose, but does do a lot to stimulate the throat region, increasing circulation to the area with invigorating blood. The Lion Pose and Neck Rolls (https://youcanstillchangeyourmind.com/2015/02/26/yogameditation/)Β  combined are powerful in helping to ward off any cold you feel coming on in the throat area.

No, Brigitte, no! Eyes wide open and tongue toward the chin!

  1. A yoga cat! Perfect inspiration. πŸ™‚ Sometimes I watch my granddaughters just moving and stretching and they’ll open to the most perfect yoga pose and they have no idea…just limber, perfect little bodies. My body is a much “older chassis” and I need reminders of how to better execute these moves. Thank you for a wonderful post!

    1. LOL! “Older chassis” ~ I like it! Yes, we have to be more cautious at our age, but in a way that is perfect for true yoga as we have to be even more in tune with our bodies in order to make it work ~ and not get hurt! So nice to hear from you, Debra! Wishing you a lovely day ~ Lisa

  2. I’ve been thinking about yoga lately. For me thinking about exercising is far more fulfilling than actually doing it. The cat does a better job I’m sure than I will, not being particularly coordinated myself. My oldest granddaughter is actually in school to become a yoga instructor so I suppose I’d better get on board. πŸ™‚

    1. Yoga is non-competitive ~ even with yourself πŸ™‚ A little bit every day, to the extent you feel to do it, brings so many benefits I can’t list them here. Future posts may reveal more … [the skies open, the angels sing ~ ] Nice to see you here at my home, my blogging Friend!
